Movie Rating : 3/5
Director : Praveen Sattaru
Producer : Chanakya Booneti
Music Director : Mickey J. Meyer
Starring : Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra
Pravin Sattaru, who had created a buzz with his last film LBW, is now back with Routine Love Story. Starring Sundeep Kishan and Regina, this movie is a simple love story based on today’s youth. Let us see how it fares.
Story :
Sanju (Sundeep Kishan), is a happy go lucky first year engineering student who falls head over heels forhis classmate Tanvi (Regina). They become good friends and spend some happy days together. After a while, Sanju decides to take his relationship to the next level and he proposes to Tanvi.
A confused Tanvi asks Sanju to give her some time so that they can get to know each other well. As with any long term relationship, the couple soon gets to know both the positives as well as negatives in eachother. The rest of the story is about whether Sanju and Tanvi decide to go on together in life.
Plus Points :
The movie has a fresh feel that will surely be liked by the younger generation. Sundeep Kishan and Regina’s chemistry is good and they look lovely on screen. They compliment each other well.
Sundeep Kishan, who impressed everyone in ‘Prasthanam’ , does wellin this film too. He looks decent and is specially good in the confrontationscenes with Regina.
Regina looks gorgeous and one can say she is one actress who has both the looks as well as the talent to go a long way in the industry.
The small fights, sweet nothings andvarious aspects of a couple in love have been captured well.
Minus Points :
The movie could have been a lot better if some ‘comedy’ bits were left out. Tagubothu Ramesh’s track and the whole M S Narayana’s forest episode could have been totally avoided. One gets the feeling that Praveen Sattaru forcefully injected some comedy sequences in the movie for the sake of having some ‘commercial elements’. Sadly, it doesn’t work.
The emotion in the romantic track is non existent at a few places. Quarrels and patch ups happen quite fast and some of them are not very convincing.
Jhansi, Hema, Ralla Palli and some other characters don’t have much to do in the film. The climax is also unconventional and may not appeal to everyone.
The pace of the film is slightly slow at times.
Technical Aspects :
Songs by Mickey are good in RLS. ‘Teliyade’ and ‘Na Manasu’ are good and have also been shot well. Dialogues are contemporary and are natural. Camera work is decent and captures the beautiful locales of Ladakh well.
Praveen Sattaru largely succeeds as adirector despite the simple story line. Editing is decent.
Verdict :
Routine Love Story is a film which has its share of highs and lows. Freshfeel, good chemistry between the lead pair and some nice conversations are plus points. On theflip side, unnecessary and bad comedy tracks and irrelevant characters spoil the experience. Overall, RLS is a decent entertainer that will appeal to youngsters as a one time watch.
